Independent Foreign Policy Doesn’t Mean Anti-America

We should have neither permanent friends nor permanent enemies, only permanent interests.” If this means wooing a country one day and ditching it next, so be it. If it means wooing Soviets one day and the Americans another, so be it.

India’s decision to vote against Iran in the UN has brought protests from lefties and media. Now lefties are opposing to 123 nuclear deal and forcing to renegotiate it. I am amazed by the mendacity and hypocrisy of such talks. Foreign policy should be dictated by national interest.

Opportunism is only one side of diplomacy. As important is the need to build up our own strength and attractions so that others (like Mr. Bush) want to woo us.

Since Prime Minister Mr. Nehruji did not want to antagonize the Soviets.

Later in 1968, the Soviets invaded Czechoslovakia, and again India refused to condemn this. In 1979 the Soviets invaded Afghanistan and temporary Prime Minister Charan Singh condemned it. But in 1971, India signed a military alliance with the Soviet Union, to keep the China out of the Indo – Pak war. Indian left and media did not complain on any of these occasions that that. IndiaUS when necessary. It never condemned the US invasion of Vietnam since at that time desperately needed Us food and financial aid so discretely held its tongue. did not hesitate to stroke the

We can get nuclear technology and supplies only from the NSG (Nuclear Suppliers Group). And this can happen only when US agrees to it. So Leftist need to understand the requirements of the country and need to rethink about their strategies on the foreign policies. So self interest please…
